The End Of The World
(Or, “Why The World Didn’t End On May 21st 2011”)
The world did not come to an end because the Rapture is a myth.
It is a small part of a bigger myth: Christianity.
Christianity is a small part of an even bigger myth: Religion.
Religions are created out of the desires of our Instincts.
They are attempts for us to answer the 3 big questions of life:
1. How did all this get here?
2. Is there a purpose to my life?
3. What happens when I die?
We humans create myths to help us feel safe, cared for,
important, loved, and wanted.
Myths are born out of the desires of our primitive animal Instincts.
We are drawn to a religion because it is comforting
It comforts us to believe that there is something or someone watching over us.
We don’t have to live in fear of sickness and death for ourselves or our children.
This is very comforting to our Nurturing Instinct.
We are drawn to a religion out of fear of being alone.
We may feel small and insignificant in such a big universe.
We may see ourselves as being unattractive or unable to find a mate.
But, we can feel embraced and wanted by our gods.
We can feel accepted and protected.
This is very comforting to our Worker and Gathering Instincts.
We are drawn to a religion out of shame or guilt.
Perhaps we feel embarrassed about some behavior we have done.
If we can turn over what we have done to some greater power
then we don’t have to bear the consequences of our behavior.
This is very attractive to our Warrior Instinct.
If my god has forgiven me, then who are you to still hold me accountable?
Our Nurturing, Worker and Gathering Instincts create the need for myths.
Out of this need we have formed religious beliefs.
And our Warrior Instinct has tried to define and control those beliefs.
Those of us who act primarily out of Warrior Instinct have written books
in which we created an extreme power in our own image,
setting ourselves up to be supremely right.
After all, who is more right than God? Right?
Being right is one of the core desires of our Warrior Instinct.
Look at the difference between the Christian Jesus and God :
Jesus preached love, compassion, acceptance, forgiveness - Nurturing Instinct.
God says worship me, praise me, tell me how great I am
or I will roast your ass in hell forever - (shock and awe) - Warrior Instinct.
It is our Warrior Instinct that creates Evangelicals.
Evangelicals are extremist Christians.
(Question: What is the difference between an extremist Christian and an extremist Muslim?
Answer: It depends on where you live, and who you believe is right.)
Why declare a date for the end of the world?
Basically, their mythical God is not cooperating with the Evangelicals
by bringing about the end of the world in a timely fashion
to punish the non believers.
This makes the Evangelicals appear to be wrong.
Our Warrior Instinct will not allow us to be introspective.
The Evangelicals cannot admit that they are wrong.
So they are trying to force the issue.
How many centuries can you cry” wolf” and no wolf appears?
After a while, everyone just ignores you.
Our Warrior Instinct gets its needs met by force.
If the rest of us won’t voluntarily start thinking and acting
the way the Evangelicals do, then they will force us to
by terrorizing us with threats that the end of the world
is going to happen now.
This is Instinctive behavior.
People who act predominantly out of Warrior Instinct
do a lot of terrorizing.
They terrorize us with stories about how people
in other countries hate us and want to kill us all.
They terrorize us with stories about how the other political party
wants to take away our freedom and kill the country.
They terrorize us to get their own needs met.
Or, more specifically, their Warrior Instinct makes them terrorize
others to satisfy the desires of Warrior Instinct.
However, since this is Instinctive behavior,
they have no awareness of what they are doing.
They are trying to force their myth to become a reality.
All human behavior has some kind of payback for us.
The payback for the Evangelicals is that their denial is protected.
This having been said, there really is an end time coming.
The end of our blindness.
As we become aware of our instinctive behavior
and the Instincts that motivate it,
the power those instincts have over us is ending.
For the Evangelicals this means the end of Christianity.
It means the end of all religions, because we won’t need them any more.
When we embrace the truth, we have no need for myths.
This is not the end of the world.
This is instinctive behavior.
This is stoop shouldered grunting Neanderthal Warrior Instinct.
That’s all.
